Last Wednesday, June 24th, there was a change on PBE that has caused a great stir in the social networks. Out of a sudden, someone noticed a buff to Karthus’ ‘W’, “Wall of Pain”:
Apart from dealing a longer slow to the enemies, the wall would ground all enemies that are within the wall, and also would stop every kind of dash done through the wall, slowing those who dash by an additional 20%.
This change is absolutely insane, people showed themselves shocked when they saw it, and we still cannot know if it will see the daylight in the normal servers, but now, Lead Gameplay Designer for League of Legends Mark Yetter has announced that Riot Games is working on some projects to change some champion mechanics.
The team has a few different small champion mechanics projects being worked on. The hope is to ship them over the next few patches. Anything you see on PBE is WIP but we appreciate the feedback.

Apparently, new mechanics like Karthus’ ‘W’ will be actually reaching our servers sooner than later.
These changes have clear intentions. For Pyke, Riot Games want him to be proper support, unable to hold a lane and push it alone. Bring him back to the meta (Pyke has been pretty weak lately), but avoiding the old broken Pyke that could be picked as ‘solo’ lane.
For Karthus, this change is a great opportunity to be back in the mid lane, and be stronger as a jungler. The changes to his ‘W’ have now been removed from PBE, but Riot Games is willing to put him back in the Rift, let’s see how they manage.
Swain will suffer some changes to become a strong champion in high elo matches but trying not to be overpowered in low MMR games. It is true that Swain had a golden age and after that has fallen apart, so maybe after these changes we can see pro-players pick him again.
For Skarner Riot Games intend to improve its Quality of Life and give him more damage so it can be a good contender to tanks and other fighters.
And finally Tahm Kench, the champion assassinated by Riot last year may be back with a significant shift power to be used as support.
We still don’t know any other details about these changes, and none of them is a final result. We will see every new feature on PBE and Riot Games will hear the community’s reaction tho them.
