Top seeds have more meaning at the upcoming BLAST Bounty Hunt Dota 2, and Team Secret and OG get the honor to not only start in the semifinals, but also to start with more money than the rest of the competitors.
Six European squads got invited to the first ever Dota 2 tournament organized by BLAST. Drawing a bit of inspiration from the Midas Mode tournaments, the BLAST Bounty Hunt event is set to bring a few new features into play, making the whole competition stand apart from the traditional Dota 2 tourneys. To start with, the $145,000 prize pool is dynamic, which means that each team will start with a base prize money and will earn bounties with every match played. In other words, teams can increase their earnings by winning and collecting bonuses. However, each team has a 40% bounty on their heads, thus the more they win and collect prize money, the more they can lose when they lose the first time.
Here is where seeding gets an additional importance. The top two seeds, OG and Team Secret will start with $20.000 and will be placed straight into the upper bracket semi-finals. Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Alliance and Team Nigma will start in the first round of the upper bracket series with $15,000 each.
BLAST Bounty Hunt Dota 2 will unfold Jun 9 – 13 in a double elimination bracket format with official broadcast provided on Twitch.tv in English, Russian and Portuguese.
