Vici Gaming exceeded many expectations in the 2018/19 Dota 2 Pro Circuit season – coming out of seemingly nowhere to claim a Minor victory followed by 2 Majors at the end of it. While their performance at The International 2019 was not terrible, the squad are seeing massive changes – with their star Zhang ‘Paparazi’ Chengjun now joining EHOME.
VG’s roster was filled to the brim with star players, all whom assisted the team brilliantly as they claimed victory at both DreamLeague Season 11 and EPICENTER Major – taking down Virtus.pro and Team Liquid respectively in the grand finals of each event. However, while TI9 was not a terrible display from the squad, who finished in 5th/6th place, immediately after the event Pan ‘Fade’ Yi announced his retirement and subsequently, the roster would lose another.
Paparazi has been known throughout the Dota 2 world for some time, having been the first player to ever reach 8000 MMR on Chinese servers and winning the solo tournament at the Dota 2 Asia Championships for two years running. After joining VG in 2017, he saw some great results but the TI crown still eluded him. Now, after TI9 did not go their way, the young Chinese star has apparently left Vici Gaming and moved onto EHOME.
While this is still unconfirmed, sources have given us insight into something Xu ‘BurNIng’ Zhilei spoke about on stream.
“I heard that EHOME’s lineup looks pretty strong. They have Paparazi, Zyd, Faith_bian, y and Xinq. VG’s lineup consists of Yang, Dy and Ori, so they are looking for a position 4 and 1.”
If this is true, the new EHOME lineup will be:
- Zhang ‘Paparazi’ Chengjun
- Zhang ‘zyd’ Daquan
- Zhang ‘Faith_bian’ Ruida
- Zhang ‘y’ Yipeng
- Zhao ‘XinQ’ Zixing
As mentioned before, none of this has been confirmed just yet but it seems to be almost entirely true with BurNIng letting it slip on stream. However, we shall keep you informed of any confirmations and any other news coming out from the Chinese Dota 2 community as it becomes available.
