Ninjas in Pyjamas ended OG’s run at ESL One Birmingham Online with a last pick Meepo into Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen’s Arc Warden.

The tournament marked OG’s reunion, however, playing in the full formula for the first time since February didn’t mean that OG were playing all from the same location. They still have both Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng and Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan battling the latency and, to some extent, the OG picks were influenced by that.

Before their series with NIP, OG were on a three series loss record and needed at least a 2-1 victory today to keep the playoffs dream alive. In game one they tried a classic Io-Gyrocopter-Tiny combo, but the laning stage set them behind, as the two key cores died four times each in the first 10 minutes. NIP took the advantage and had an easy transition with their Dragon Knight and Morphling progressing nice and easy, which allowed them to survive even when OG forced them into unfavorable fights.

Facing elimination, OG decided to take the DK for themselves and aligned another draft emphasizing team fights. Their ace in the sleeve should have been Arc Warden, but while they were focused on denying NIP the options for a fast paced game, banning Lycan, Broodmooter and Ember Spirit, they forgot about Ondřej “Supream^” Štarha’s Meepo and got punished for it. Supream^ controlled the whole game from the start to finish on his Meepo and eliminated OG from the contention.

While OG will have about a week before they enter the next tournament, NIP are one series away from securing an upper bracket start in the ESL One Birmingham CIS and Europe playoff stage. Their last group stage match will be held against VP.Prodigy, currently the top seed team of Group B.
