It was revealed only on the first day of the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor qualifiers that Team Aster brought along Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung. The team co-owner and coach, Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei kept the roster change secret until the very last moment, but after the first series of games, he took the time to talk about his decision with his stream viewers.

Aster didn’t qualify for the Minor, however, BurNIng is confident that Mushi’s addition will change a few things inside the team. “Mushi is communicative and can be a good leader,” said Aster’s coach who also revealed that he wanted to sign him back in November when Aster did the first roster Change by replacing Deng “Dstones”‘ Lei with Gao “lover” Yuan.

“We had communication issues with both Dstones and Lover,” said BurNIng and explained that neither of them were able to “make calls during games and gradually, they did only what the team told them to.” According to their coach, this type of in-game behavior had them play worse with every game.

Mushi’s addition is meant to change the way the team communicates, however, BurNIng has his reservations and knows that there is a bit of extra work to be done. He pointed out the fact that Mushi hasn’t played in the mid lane for a long time and that his hero pool is a bit narrow.

“He seems to be in a steady form”

For these Minor qualifiers Mushi played from Malaysia, with about 80 ping latency said BurNIng, and considering how the games went, the coach is content with his performance overall. “He seems to be in a steady form and his communication skill just outclasses both of our former mid laners,” he told to his stream viewers. While Mushi is supposed to come to China this month, Lover will be moved to a secondary team, BurNIng said, without giving too many details. He mentioned, however, that he doesn’t want to make any other roster adjustments and that his key players at Aster are Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao and Lin “Xxs” Jing. He also revealed a couple of other issues he faced when he tried to find a mid laner.

“I contacted everyone except Maybe, what else am I supposed to do?”

“It’s difficult to find a decent mid-laner in China”, said BurNIng and mentioned that he contacted a lot of teams but with no avail. “Sccc renewed his contract with Newbee. Team Serenity doesn’t want to release Zyd. I also contacted Keen to see if we can get their mid-laner and KG replied: “Hey how about you join us? We need a carry” I contacted everyone except Maybe, what else am I supposed to do? I tried, but everyone is labeled “not-for-sale,” said BurNIng who also mentioned that he also contacted Ferari_430, but the TI2 Champion has a deal with the Newbee team owner and is playing for Mr Game Boy, a subsidiary squad of Newbee.

BurNIng revealed all these details a few days back, and since then, Aster has indeed removed Lover from their team on Valve’s official Majors registration page. However, Mushi hasn’t been added just yet. Team Aster will make their first LAN appearance after the failed Minor qualifiers at ESL One Katowice, event which starts on the 19th of February.
