Execration’s rising stars line-up opened their Dota Pro Circuit campaign with a stunning upset over the Upper Division favorites TNC Predator.

Formed only towards the end of 2020, with two completely new faces in the competitive scene, initially recruited on trial basis straight from the SEA pubs, Execration claimed a spot into the Upper Division of Southeast Asia DPC league via closed qualifiers. And while all eyes are on Fnatic and TNC, who are expected to fight neck and neck for the coveted first place in the league, the underdogs came prepared to shake things up right from the first week of competition.

Execration’s 17 years old mid laner Argle “Ken” Llesis took the spotlight with his DPC debut on Batrider. In game one, he annihilated his far more experienced opponent, Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte, who switched roles with Armel Paul “Armel” Tabios and went mid-lane on Puck. Unfortunately for Gabbi, Execration focused their efforts and the support resources early game to constantly gank him, which destabilized TNC’s laning stage and prevented them from executing their game plan with Slardar-Puck-Slark trio core.

Following the disastrous mid lane match-up from game one, Gabbi went back to his carry role as TNC tried to counter Execrations’ Medusa with Phantom Lancer and Invoker. However, Ken was once again able to outplay his mid lane adversary and establish an early advantage to overwhelm TNC with his spot on rotations. His perfect Flaming Lasso initiations allowed Execration to take advantageous fights even in a 4 vs 5 scenario and led to a flawless 2-0 victory.

Their successful Upper Division opening series over one of the League favorites might make the difference later in the competition for the young Execration roster. Their next series, scheduled for the second week of the league, will pit them against the other favorite at the first place, Fnatic. If they can keep the momentum up and come as focused as they seemed today, Execration have all chances to deliver the biggest surprise of the DPC Season 1 SEA regional league.
