All the way back in 2014 at The International, Evil Geniuses were almost a completely different team with only Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev still on the squad now. The team finished that tournament in an amazing 3rd place but soon after this they would remove a player from their roster, Mason ‘mason’ Venne. After a long leave of absence, Mason returns to the forefront of Dota 2 with a new team, featuring some other well-known names.
After departing from Evil Geniuses, Mason spent some time away from the game, returning late in 2015 to join a team called High Council of Wizards & Priests which had in it names such as Jimmy ‘DeMoN’ Ho and Ioannis ‘Fogged’ Loucas. This didn’t last very long and Mason moved on through many smaller teams before settling at Team Onyx at Demon’s side once again. The team was signed by Digital Chaos for a short time but in late 2017 they disbanded and Mason disappeared from the Dota 2 scene.
Until now, that is, where a new stack has been formed by the player and it seems as though they will be heading to the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Open Qualifiers. The North American stack is named ‘wut the frog’ (wtfrog) and includes the likes of Quinn ‘CCnC’ Callahan and Jaron ‘monkeys-forever’ Clinton amongst others amazing Dota 2 stars.
The full wtfrog roster is:
- Mason ‘mason’ Venne
- Quinn ‘CCnC’ Callahan
- Andrew ‘Jubei’ Evelynn
- Jaron ‘monkeys-forever’ Clinton
This stack will be competing in just a few weeks as they attempt to make it into the North American Closed qualifier for the Minor – but they’ll definitely have their work cut out for them along the way.
