Envy has officially announced Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek as the newest member of their Counter-Strike division. Sonic joins the squad from ATK where he’s been a player since ATK acquired the Denial roster which previously ran under the Bravado banner.
The South African player received quite the warm welcome from the team in the official announcement.
“Hailing from South Africa, Groesbeek brings nearly six years of professional experience and a collection of first-place accolades from an impressive and promising career as a Rifler and AWPer. Sonic’s role flexibility, deep-rooted mechanical skill, and robust knowledge of the game make him a great addition to our organization’s CS:GO team,” the post read.
Sonic will be playing alongside Noah “Nifty” Francis, Sam “s0m” Oh, Bradley “ANDROID” Fodor, and Jacob “FugLy” Medina in the upcoming Americas Minor North America closed qualifier. They’ll be put to the test with teams like NRG, FURIA, eUnited, Cloud9, and more.
The player now missing from the roster is Josh “jdm64” Marzano, one of the original members of this roster alongside Nifty. The primary AWPer will be missing but Nifty is set to move back into that role with Sonic being able to hybrid between the two.
