NRG rifler Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte became the star of the show as his team faced Chinese surprise TYLOO for a New Legends seed at the IEM Katowice Major. NRG got to the 2-0 pool by playing the worst seeded teams in the tournament — Vici Gaming and Winstrike — but TYLOO was different.
The Chinese side had already proven it can play good, aggressive and disciplined Counter-Strike. They had already upset Vitality and Cloud9 in earlier rounds and were a serious threat to NRG. Star fragger Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand had been clicking heads all tournament and the firepower of the Chinese could not be denied.
But even BnTeT couldn’t match Brehze’s killing spree. The American scored 72 kills on a +34 KD ratio to propel his team to the New Legends Stage. NRG joined Renegades as the second team to finish the New Challengers Stage 3-0.
